This is the best live recorded show I have ever heard by Bill Callahan.. It's crisp and clear high quality sound that resonates through the body.. Not intended to draw sleep, but cover up the darkness.. Bill has written some of his best songs on this record.. Real songs.. Songs you couldn't write, but wish you could.. or at least fly like you did.. One thing about this effort is how many times I have heard shotty sounding live shows and was disappointed by there looseness.. These live songs are Tried and True.. musically tight and dead on... I personally purchased the FLAC download of the album therefore recording to my own cdr as directed by Callahan himself.. Who I must say did a great job with the digital version of this great live album... I hope it is put to cd, but the flac download will do for now as I do not have a reputable record player at this point.. So I guess I am unable to say how the technics are on the recorded LP version.. Tho I think it is safe to say flac, cd or record they all sound like a fine wine being poured into glass.. It's what we have come to expect from Bill Callahan also known as SMOG... sometimes Mr. Bill...

An excellent addition to anyone's showcase..

Don't know what it is about Callahan/Smog. All the songs are funeral dirges yet there are some that I can listen to over and over again. Others never. I've been listening to "Knock Knock" a lot recently having picked it up on vinyl finally. No problem enjoying it. I have only listened to 3 of the 4 sides here and have no desire to listen to the 4th.

I've never seen him live and maybe that's a good thing, for this live album is far from it. Some artists need the help that a studio provides. He apparently is one of them. This appears to be a vinyl only release. If so, that's a cool touch. It also means that those that purchase CD's will never hear this. That's probably a good thing.
