Ken Livingstone: Kenneth Robert "Ken" Livingstone is a British Labour Party politician who has twice held the leading political role in London local government, first as the Leader of the Greater London Council from 1981 until the Council was abolished in 1986, and then as the first elected Mayor of London from the creation of the office in 2000 until 2008. He also served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Brent East from 1987 to 2001. He stood unsuccessfully as the Labour Party candidate in the London mayoral elections of 2008 and 2012.

TitleYou Can't Say That: Memoirs
This is a frank, gripping, moving - and controversial - autobiography from one of the most idiosyncratic and effective politicians of the last fifty years. His political convictions, his distance from New Labour, and his direct, plain-speaking style and personality have allowed him to survive longer than any of his contemporaries as a man of principle and influence. From his eccentric South London working class childhood to running one of the biggest cities in the world, Livingstone is one of the very few politicians to have scored a major victory over the Thatcher Government and has championed issues as diverse as the environment, gay rights and anti-racism. Written in Livingstone's unmistakable voice, by turns angrily sincere about social injustice, wickedly droll and gossipy, and surprisingly wistful about people he has known and loved, this is a hugely important and remarkable book from one of the very few respected politicians at work today.

@stephenfulham @simonevans117 ES was a tool of Ken Livingstone. I know for certain the owner was on the fence. It was left to journalists.
JoshRowan2
@MayorofLondon please knock out ken livingstone, what a prick.
sharpy58
@Nilstar1 Can't even listen to his voice. Like to put him in a box with Ken Livingstone and drop it of the highest building!!
lecat222
@LeffeAt49DS I thought Ken Livingstone was the Mayor of London... As Mr Potatohead said to the piggy bank I'm such an 'uncultured swine'
LeffeAt49DS
@lecat222 Ken Livingstone was Mayor Of London, lost to Boris Johnson in 2008 & just lost again. John Peel was THE disc jockey. Gone now.
LeffeAt49DS
@lecat222 I just like having an unusual avatar I suppose. People have mistaken me for Ken Livingstone/John Peel in the past. Younger though!

@PittTheBlogger You've made me switch to BBC3 you bastard, and I hate Scott Mills and Sara Cox more than Ken Livingstone.
